Strangely Familiar

Strangely familiar can mean many different things. When I got the brief, I wrote down everything I thought after reading the title. This then meant that I would hopefully have something which I can turn into an idea.
I used the idea of something being strangely familiar because of someone you know. For example, if I you saw a keyring which reminded you of a friend because you have associated them with that object. This idea was interesting as I did not know how to execute it in the best way which fit. However, I decided to use a style of photography I learnt recently to show this idea.
For this brief I looked at indirect portraits. This style if you photograph something which represents a person but instead of being a “normal” portrait you do not photograph a model. This is an interesting technique as it is out of the norm of what a portrait would usually be. This style interests me for this reason. Because of this style and what is needed for it to be indirect I felt that this worked well for my project.
For the shoot I gather objects that I associate with my family. This means that I chose things which would be familiar to me if I saw them but may not know why they are. Once I had gathered these objects, I laid them out in a way which I felt worked. This was important that I captured each object as they all played a part to the image and what the image means. In total I took 88 images. I then selected the best three. When I select final images, I like to follow the rule of odds this means that I will pick an odd number. This is because I find that if I was to show my work it would be aesthetically pleasing to the eye.
After I had chosen the final Images, I decided to use my skills in Photoshop and Lightroom to help to make sure I fixed an imperfection which may impact the image. I did this by using levels in Photoshop and blemish tools.
Personally, I like the bracelet image best. This is because I feel like I have captured the elegance of the bracelet. This I feel add the Image as its about someone important to me.
In collusion I liked the challenge of this brief and is happy with the work I have created considering that it is a style which I have not looked into and tied much before.
